The Tortoise and Rabbit

The old story said that the slow and steady wins the race is absolutely true. But here is another aspect of life is described in the following story. That after losing to tortoise the rabbit realized that he certainly made mistakes to fail in the race .And he realized that he has some of the best quality within him that can win the race. Sor he asked for another race to the tortoise. And finally they had another race, in which the rabbit could control get rid of his overconfidence and ran very fast without stopping anywhere. And finally the rabbit won the race.

Moral of the story is : fast and consistent will always beat the slow and steady. So it is always better to be fast and consistent than slow and steady.

This time tortoise did some introspection and realized that there is no way he could beat the rabbit in race at present place and situations. He started thinking and thinking for few days. At last he came with an idea and challenged the rabbit again for another race to a different destination, which was accepted by the rabbit with some arrogance in his mind. Finally the race started and both were running as per their capacity and commitment. The rabbit ran at top speed until he came to the side of a river. The rabbit sat there and was thinking how to cross the river. In the meantime the tortoise came there and swam across the river to reach the finish line in the other side of the river. This time tortoise won the race.

Moral of the story is: First identify your own competency level and then apply your core competency level in a different field where you can beat others knowing their limitation in particular. For example if you are a good sports person you should be in games and if you are good speaker and motivator you should be in politics. But a sportsman in politics and good speaker in games will result in severe failure in respective fields. So core competency in particular aspects of your personality should be pointed out first and then a suitable field of action is required to be chosen. Not a particular approach to every field of life.

Few more days spent on thinking of result of the race. By the time tortoise and the rabbit were become good friends and they discussed how to improve further their competency. They decided to run as a team to compete with other in jungle. So they arranged another race with many others. This time tortoise used to sit on the back of the rabbit to reach the river side very quickly and the rabbit sat on the back of tortoise while he swam across the river. And finally they could beat everyone in the race.

Moral of the story is: It is good to be individually motivated and to have own competencies but unless you are able to work in a team and harness each other’s competencies you will always fail to achieve good result.
